Which vehicles will this work best in?
Green Flags
Generally, the older the heavy vehicle, the bigger the improvement. Carbon deposits build over time. Lowest savings will be in Euro 6 vehicles under 3 years old.
Obvious signs of a likely successful use case:
Vehicles with visible smoke or heavy soot
Vehicles with "transient" loads (frequent stop-start or varying RPMs) compared to constant, low-load idle.
Countries using diesel with a high sulfur level
Euro 4 vehicles or older, or high-utilization Euro 5 units that have crossed the 500,000 km mark.
Red Flags
HCarb is designed to introduce gas into the air intake, some very specific modern high-pressure systems are highly sealed. If a truck has a highly proprietary or fully integrated plastic intake manifold that cannot be safely tapped for a "port injection" of gas, it may be unsuitable for a standard HCarb "bolt-on" installation.
Insufficient mounting space
A vehicle that has an already structurally failed or melted DPF will not see the fuel savings benefits. The HCarb unit cleans carbon, but it cannot "fix" a physically broken exhaust after-treatment system.
Vehicles with low utilization will take longer to see a return on investment.
Examples of Suitable Trucks
Euro 4 vehicles or earlier are ideal and significant savings will be anticipated. These include but are not limited to:
Isuzu N-Series & F-Series
Hino 300 & 500 Series
Mitsubishi Fuso Canter & Fighter
DAF CF & XF
Scania P-Series & G-Series
Volvo FM & FH
Mercedes-Benz Atego
UD Trucks (Quon/Condor)
Western Star 4800 series
Freightliner (Century Class CST112, Argosy)
Mack (Granite, Trident)
Kenworth (T359, T404, K104B / K108)
Euro 5 heavy vehicles utilize Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and AdBlue unlike Euro 4. While diesel savings are likely modestly lower, HCarb’s hydroxyl (OH) radicals improve combustion efficiency, which naturally reduces the "engine-out" nitrous oxide and particulate matter. By producing a cleaner burn, the vehicle may require less AdBlue injection to meet tailpipe standards, offering a dual-fluid saving (Diesel + AdBlue). Examples of ideal Euro 5 vehicles include but are not limited to:
Isuzu CYZ / EXY (Giga)
Hino 700 Series
Mitsubishi Fuso Shogun
European Euro 5 (Scania/Volvo)
DAF CF85 / XF105
Iveco Stralis / Eurocargo
UD Trucks (Quon)
Volvo FM / FMX (D13)
Western Star 4800 & 4900 Platforms
Freightliner (Argosy, Coronado)
Mack (Granite, Trident, Super-Liner)
Kenworth (K200, T659, T359)
